Eureka! is seeking a dynamic, strategic minded, and operations focused rock-star Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as a thoughtful and passionate member of the senior leadership team (SLT). Our SLT is comprised of the CEO, Chief Restaurant Operations Officer (CROO), Chief People Officer (CPO), and Chief Development Officer (CDO) and you will be a critical partner helping all departments reach financial milestones in our endless pursuit of excellence.
How would our CEO, Justin Nedelman, describe the ideal CFO candidate?
As the CFO first and foremost you need to live EDC. That means you work hard but play hard. You have great energy and spirit in your presence. You are a leader, but humble and a teacher. You are curious. You are an explorer. You ask the right questions and look around corners before anyone else even thinks of what you thought of. You either love travel, food, whiskey, beer or all of the above and you want to live and work in Los Angeles. You understand and appreciate community and you truly believe that your greatest asset is your people. You are not afraid to dig into the details, roll up your sleeves, and get dirty; but you are also highly strategic always thinking, always asking good questions, and always seeking more efficient and effective ways to do things.
You should have an MBA or advanced degree in Finance or Accounting. While important, it is not critical to have been a CPA. Our Accounting team has strong accounting skills already. You need to know how to lead, inspire, and perfect our processes, financial reports, and overall data analysis to help our operators and leaders in our support center make quicker and more informed decisions. You need to have an insatiable appetite for data and a burning desire to think about our business from multiple angles - how to improve margins without sacrificing one ounce of service quality or the experience for our guests.
At Eureka! we are always changing, always evolving, and never comfortable. You must be able to facilitate change and have 100% follow through. You should be completely self-motivated and have a say to do ratio of 100%.
A CFO at Eureka! should be able to have an unbiased end to end view of the value we bring to our team and guests and be able to pinpoint exact locations in our business or support center cost centers where we can take action with specific goals in mind that are measured, validated, and continuously improved upon.
I want you to examine our key performance indicators and rip a few up, add a few new ones, show us how to reveal trends, track performance and identify opportunities easier than the way we do it now.
You must understand the value of KISS (keep it simple stupid). Less is more. Tell us how to simplify and create actionable data so that key business drivers can be maximized. All statistics we create must evolve with the business, with society, and with technology so that we are continuously looking for ways to amplify the guest experience but not at the expense of the P&L.
You will be counted on to work late but also leave early for an occasional beer tasting, restaurant opening, or great dinner in Los Angeles. You will directly manage through teaching, supporting, and validating through continuous performance management overseeing our Director of IT, Director of Facilities and Construction, Director of Finance and Analysis, and Controller with the goal of teaching our less experienced stars how to be true leaders in their niche. You will manage all corporate accounting, audit and tax, risk management, budgets and forecasting, cash management, insurance and benefits, tax compliance and planning, and banking relationships.
You can not be afraid of having an opinion, taking a stand, holding the line and driving for results.
Ideally you will have been a CFO or VP of Finance for a restaurant, hospitality oriented or hotel company in either capacity for 5+ years and be a true student of our industry.
Your pay and benefits will depend on experience. Our equity option package is significant and will motivate you for the long term. Our support center is located above the Eureka! Tasting Kitchen in Hawthorne, CA at the private municipal airport where it will be expected that you work at daily.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Minimal travel is expected for this position (0-10%).
