MORIMOTO NYC is currently seeking an experienced Sous Chef for our well-rated, high-end Japanese restaurant at Chelsea Market. The ideal candidate should have a progressive culinary background that has fundamental understanding of the fine touches, harmonious flavors and unique finesse of regional Asian cuisine.
Qualified candidates will be:
Driven towards consistency and service excellence
Energetic and enthusiastic and possess strong communication and organizational skills
Effective at managing a diverse hourly staff
Qualified candidates will have:
2-3 years of experience as a Sous Chef in a well-rated restaurant
Prior experience training and mentoring a hourly line cook team
Excellent meat/fish butchery skills
Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead-by-example
A minimum of an associate s degree from a culinary focused university preferred
